Simple happy

A few things that have made me a jolly happy girl lately...

Shelves. They are appearing all over the house.  This is a good thing, especially these ones in the kitchen.  Everything on those shelves was previously in a heap on the floor.  It's nice to see it all neat and tidy.

Garden snacks.  I only have two strawberry plants (I'm not actually a big fan of strawberries.  I know. Shocking...) but they are currently in overdrive.  Even I can appreciate the joys of sun-warmed strawberries scoffed straight off the plant. Mmmm :)

And speaking of the garden, things are are all a-bloom.  The odd sweet pea survived The Move and I keep catching hints of their gorgeous perfume on the breeze.  Elsewhere, frothy clouds of lobelia are bursting forth in a beautiful blue that's almost the exact same colour of the sky.

Meanwhile, indoors, the Shelves of Yarny Temptation beckon every time I get to the top of the stairs.

Simple things. Happy things.

A Visitor

I was having a quick potter about the back garden earlier, when I came across this little chap mooching under a plant pot.

I think he's a smooth newt, but a juvenile, not an adult. He's pretty small. There's not much to give you a sense of scale in the pic, but that grey blob off to the left of his tail is an upside-down woodlouse. I reckon he was maybe three inches long.  I have noticed an increase in slug numbers lately, so he's very welcome. I hope he gets on with the toad.

In other non-amphibian news, I have been working hard on the ripple blanket.

More about that anon...

In my garden last night...

...were one very busy fella...

...and one looking kinda jumpy...

Needless to say, cat #2 was entranced by both.  Mercifully, he ate neither.

And in my lunch break today, I've been fiddling with my blog layout.  Content a little wider, pictures a little bigger, header considerably bigger.  I like it more than the old one, but I feel there's still room for improvement, no?
