Last weekend I made a cushion cover. It has taken me all week to choose the buttons. In the end, I went for nice, pale wooden ones. Buttons maketh the project, in my opinion!
I agree - buttons are definitely the best finishing touch, and those are fab! Is the cushion crocheted or knitted (or neither?) - I can't tell from the picture. I've just made a cushion cover too - my first one ever. No buttons on mine though - I feel some button envy coming on ....

Hi Kim, It's crocheted - me and knitting needles don't get on so well! I swear, half the fun is in the button-hunting :)
